SMACK'N Fam,
I first want to say thank you Jesus for blessing my family and I with the opportunity and ability to have such a thriving restaurant business in San Diego, CA for 5+ years.
Thank you to my wife and children that sacrificed so much husband and daddy time to create space for SMACK’N to grow and live, I literally wrote part of the business plan while Steff was in labor with Aaliyah and we opened doors when Aaliyah was 6 months old.
Thank you to my parents, in-laws, and relatives that helped financially with the start up and through the process of COVID, inflation, and supporting of caring for our children when we had that catering to do or that leak to fix.
And lastly, thank you to you all! Our customers that traveled near and far to indulge in the Chamorro cuisine that was just really my family’s barbecue that made it out of the backyard and into a full-blown restaurant. All the community built and fun fiestas we threw for our anniversary parties, you made it so so special!
We will have until Sunday together at this physical location but the legacy of the Sudo Mesa Authentic Chamorro Kitchen (SMACK’N) will live on forever!
I know you were proud and smiling down from heaven grandma, Rosa Sudo Mesa!

For years, SMACK’N Guamanian Grill wasn’t just a restaurant, but has been a place of opportunity. It was a place that welcomed everyone with open arms, served up love on a plate, and provided jobs, second chances, and unwavering support to so many in our community.
SMACK’N gave opportunities to the formerly incarcerated, hired local workers, and shared the beauty of Chamorro culture with everyone who walked through its doors.
The journey of running a small business came with challenges, and despite the heart and hustle poured into it, financial hardships contributed to SMACK’N's closure.
We’re asking our community to come together one more time to support Steffany and Christian as they navigate this difficult season post-SMACK'N.
Thank you for your donations and support. We are so appreciative of the amount of love we've received, especially during the final days of SMACK'N.
This truly is a difficult question to answer. The honest answer is that we don't know what God has in store for us in this next season. We've encountered many people who are still wanting us to open a new location and/or cater.
While we have yet to decide, we are leaning towards on-site catering for large events... think 'taco-man'... but Guam-man, lol.
Continue to look out for the update on our social media, @smackngg.
If you have a large event coming up and are interested in having on-site cooking, please email us directly at [email protected]!
